Commitment to Community

The PREPARE Institute is committed to being actively engaged in the community.

San Diego serves as the nation’s front door to the Pacific Rim, Central America and South America. As such, it is a key point of entry for infectious threats. San Diego is a growing biotech hub which helps facilitate the public/private partnerships needed to be successful. There is rich social capital built by our diverse community members in our region.

These factors uniquely position the PREPARE Institute to convene our local community in preparing for the next pandemic. Together we will leverage our collective knowledge and innovation to protect humanity against future pandemics.

We are committed to building connections with people and communities that have traditionally been left out of health research. This commitment includes finding meaningful ways to bring individuals and groups diverse in race, ethnicity, health status and diagnosis, neighborhood and geographic region, and life experience into our Institute. Inclusiveness is central to our mission.
